In December 2012, John was invited to Romania for the first time. At the beginning of 2013, he introduced sitting volleyball in Romania and started training sessions. He moved to Bucharest and started with students of the University of Sports Bucharest the Romania sitting volleyball group. In a short period, the group visited many cities and volleyballs and clothes were delivered. Under John and his foundation`s auspices, different tournaments were organised by the Romania sitting volleyball group without any financial support and the news about the group spread all over the country by the interest created in the media and the local communities due to various public events and games organised in various locations. The Romanian Paralympic Committee was very positive about the involvement and the method used by the Romania sitting volleyball group and gave their support.
In 2014, John visited the World Championships sitting volleyball in Elblag -Poland. He took some people from the Romania Sitting Volleyball group with him to make worldwide contacts with other coaches and officials and to show more about sitting volleyball played and organised at a higher level.
Because of disturbing counteractions during the World Championship 2014 by World Paravolley against John and his team in Romania, John stopped immediately with his work for the Romania sitting volleyball group. He was hoping that his departure would bring some rest and progress for the Romania sitting volleyball group, but his departure had major consequences. Unfortunately, the nice and promising words from World Paravolley and Paravolley Europe to help the Romania sitting volleyball group turned out to be false and so, the sitting volleyball in Romania came to an abrupt end in 2014. Without any financial and management support, the Romania sitting volleyball group was not strong enough to keep being active in Romania with sitting volleyball.
In 2021 there is still no sitting volleyball in Romania.
