John himself advised and informed some board members of the official para volley organisations  about the usefulness and need for an active Facebook page during the Paralympics in London 2012 and the World Championships sitting volleyball in 2014, yet there was no result with no active communication with the para volley community.

2016

The lack of action by the official para volley organisations was the reason why John Bestebroer initiated the creation of a number of Facebook pages. In March 2016 the Intercontinental Cup and the Qualification tournament for Rio 2016 took place in China. During this event, match results and other sitting volleyball information was shared to a wide audience by the new made Facebook pages Paravolley Pan Am, Paravolley Africa and Ukraine women's national sitting volleyball team.

In April 2016, the official organisation of the zone Pan Am started the Facebook page Paravolley Pan America). Unfortunately, not much information was shared and with the upcoming Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro in September 2016, one could expect much more information to share.

It became clear again that the communication with the para volley community worldwide was still not a priority. As a result, in June 2016 more Facebook pages administered by John were made to promote sitting volleyball during the Paralympics 2016, all being visited regularly. Also, after the Paralympics Rio 2016, the Facebook pages are still sharing information and are more active during sitting volleyball events like the zonal championships (2017, 2019) and the World Championship sitting volleyball 2018.

THE NETHERLANDS

In June 2016, a Facebook page was made for para volley in The Netherlands.  The page ParavolleyNED became very successful and useful. The first 10 months (during the sitting volleyball club competition September 2016-April 2017) in total 748 posts were made or shared, while the Dutch volleyball Federation, that is responsible for para volley in The Netherlands,  had only 8 posts on their Facebook page, in the same period.

ParavolleyNED is still the most important para volley news distributor in the Netherlands.

All Facebook pages are still active being administered in an amateur way. What will happen if these Facebook pages will be carried out in a professional manner?

All Facebook pages are a private initiative and there is no direct involvement with any of the teams, para volley organisations or players.
