POSTPONED TO 2023

2022 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships will be held from 16 – 27 November 2022 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Hosts United Arab Emirates will welcome over 300 international wheelchair basketball players representing 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams to compete over twelve days of competition at the showcase event.

The qualification tournaments for the 2022 World Championships began with the European Championships in Madrid, Spain in December 2021 – five men’s and four women’s teams from Europe qualified. The rest of the qualification tournaments will take place in the upcoming months with Africa’s representation being decided at the Africa Championships taking place 23 – 28 January 2022 in Ethiopia. The Asia Oceania teams will be decided in May 2022 in Thailand at the Asia Oceania Championships, whilst the final places to be confirmed are the Americas which will be determined at the Americas Cup in late July 2022.

Women: Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands & Spain

Men: France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and the Netherlands

AFRICA

Women: Algeria

Men: Egypt

ASIA OCEANIA

Women: Australia, Japan, Iran

Men: Australia, Iran, Korea, Thailand, Iraq

About the World Championships

The World Championships is the showcase international competition for wheelchair basketball contested by the best men’s and women’s national teams from across the world.
